SitTight featured on Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation on CBS

Innovation Nation traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada to learn how the SitTight chair transforms sitting into an activity that improves your health by using movement and your body’s natural ability to balance.  The show explores a number of topics from the origin of the product to the many iterations of it that occurred during the design and prototyping process.

This Desk Chair Will Give Your Core a Workout

You’ve probably heard a lot over the years about how sitting all day can screw with your health. Being chained to your desk chair without moving can lead to back pain, weight gain, and even put you at risk for developing diseases like cancer and diabetes.

Its other features include an adjustable height, a mesh cushion that increases airflow, and the ability to swivel back and forth.

However, the concept of a balance chair isn’t new. In the 1970s, a chair was developed in Norway that you would kneel on to help your posture, and they’re still around today.

This office chair will give you a core workout while you sit at a desk all day

The SitTight office chair helps users practice “balanced active sitting.” In order to sit up straight, users must engage their muscles and center their posture at all times.

This chair was designed to help users workout their core muscles and also combat the effects of prolonged sitting. Some recent studies have suggested sitting for long periods on the job can increase your odds of health risks.

This office chair gives you a core workout by making you balance when sitting down

This chair can give your core a workout whilst you sit at your desk working.

The SitTight chair was designed to help office workers dealing with back pain and improve their posture for a healthier 9-5 lifestyle.

It works by using an air bladder on the base of the chair which can be easily inflated or deflated. This forces the user to keep a stable centre of gravity, much like a fitness ball.

At the time of writing, the SitTight chair has exceeded its Kickstarter goal by nearly 300 per cent and it can be bought for $365 here.

SitTight is a balancing chair to keep you fit and active while at your desk

Sitting all day, everyday at work behind a desk has been proven to be as detrimental to your health as smoking cigarettes. So how do we get around it then if that’s where we need to be during the day? What if there was a way to keep active while still at your desk? Well, a new Kickstarter funded project, the SitTight balance chair, was created with just that in mind. It works by transforming sitting into an activity that improves your health, instead of just damaging it.

Sit All Day? Consider a SitTight Chair.

You probably sit for your job. Most of us do— around 86% of us, in fact. And there’s even a disease being named after it–the oh-so-original “sitting disease.”

That’s because sitting has been linked to cardiovascular disease and weight gain. And everyone who works in an office 9-to-5 will agree, it zaps your energy.

Scott Bahneman felt the same way. After taking an office job, he gained weight and noticed his health diminishing. So he created a chair that acts as part desk accessory and part workout equipment.

The SitTight allows you to work on your fitness in the same hours you’re working in Word and Excel. And the concept is pretty simple: Sitting in the chair, you balance on your center of gravity, which keeps your muscles engaged. Bahneman even says your mind gets a flex from having to stay aware and be mindful of your body’s stability.
